Check, Check: Flyers, Merch, Stage Design
I've had a lot of recent work in the ~ music industry ~
Check, check, check it out! I’ve been busy the past month or so with some cool projects for folks in the local music scene of Raleigh NC. Something about the mic check writing me a check, but I couldn’t quite think of a better line than this :]
DAY SHIFT with TEN $TEPS AHEAD
I always love a good collaboration, and this was my second time designing an installation for the stage for @tsaxsteps DAY SHIFT event series. Click here to check out some photos from last year’s install at The Pour House. This year, I built an install for the stage at @transfercoballroom, curated the vendor market for the event, and designed the DAY SHIFT exclusive merch.
The theme of this day party was to “escape the mundane”, so I opted to transform recycled and everyday materials into something special. For the stage, I used cardboard, poster board, paper plates, duct tape, spray paint, and some recycled packaging materials. I also had giant paper planes flying throughout the ballroom, which of course i neglected to photograph. For the shirt design, I drew a paper plane to connect to the install and placed it over an old school Pan Am logo motif. The shirts were live screen printed during the event

Oak City Music Collective
I’ve also gotten to do several designs for Oak City Music Collective events recently, including their Hopscotch Music Fest day party series. For those flyers, I drew up a group of heart pals making their way to the dance floor for the main concept. Each flyer also had a lil sun dude - made from the starburst shape used in Hopscotch branding - with every sun sporting a look inspired by that day party’s genres of music. The color palette for each flyer is also pulled from that genre’s aesthetic and/or culture of origin.
I also did some other flyers for them for some upcoming events. Yay music! Yay community! Yay money!
As always, thanks for reading!
